I mean, holy.mackerel. Christie's just announced that an auction of Elizabeth Taylor's personal possessions will be held later this year- the highlight of which is of course her enormous (double entendre) jewelry collection. I just finished reading Furious Love, which is a fantastic account of her relationship with Richard Burton, many milestones of which were marked by the purchase of an extravagant piece of jewelry. I have to say, among the 30+ carat flawless diamond, emeralds, sapphires & rubies, my favorite piece is this charm bracelet (click to enlarge):
As someone who collects charms herself (thank you Debbe, for instilling that habit in me), I think there is no better way to commemorate travels and memories- something Ms Taylor had nothing but the grandest of.
